10 of the best Christmas markets to trade in this year
Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat….
Now we are approaching the end of the season I thought that I would mention the C-word.
There are a number of Christmas markets and events to keep any hot food seller or retail seller busy with. Take a look at the top Christmas markets and events the UK has to offer! Here is a list of Britain’s top Christmas events
#1 Bath Christmas market
Bath hosts an amazing market with over 200 stalls throughout the Georgian streets around the Roman Baths and the Abbey.
Kingsmead Square hosts a festive Street Food Market with around 18 street food stalls, live music and a mulled wine bar. A lot of the items and produce on sale are from the local area, or made by local suppliers. The market starts on Thursday the 22nd November until Sunday 9th December. This is a very busy market so booking early is the way forward, you’ll get 18 days of trading and you’ll be busy on every trading day.
#2 London Hyde Park Angels Market
Angels Events are the guys you’ll need to contact for Hyde Park Winter Wonderland – which is one of Europe’s largest Christmas events, with a massive foot fall from the 22nd November to the 6th January. Open from 10am till 10pm there is a massive trading opportunity the only day the market is closed is on Christmas day. If you have a big mobile food operation then you might want to give this a go.
#3 Edinburgh Christmas Market
Edinburgh boasts two markets both organised by Angels events the very same that organise Hyde Park. East Princes Street market is open this year from 16th November to 5th January 2019. George Street market is open this year from 16th November to 24th December.
I have a few friends that trade on these markets every year and by all accounts these markets are definitely up there with the best markets in the UK.
#4 Belfast Christmas Market
Belfast City Hall gardens are the host for the Christmas market. Market Place Europe have been organising this market for the last 14 years and has proved to be a highly popular market over this time. With over 100 chalets that serve up to 1 million people over the 5 weeks.
If you are thinking about trading at this market take note that Market Place hand pick their best food traders that work alongside them throughout the year, so it is a must that you have worked with them fairly regularly. They have some great festivals through the summer season so I’d say it’s well worth it.
The market runs this year from the 18th November to the 22nd December

Manchester plays host to a few markets throughout the city, they have a European market in Albert Square, a German market at St Ann's Square and French stalls at King Street. You can also find boutiques and food outlets at Exchange Square, and arts and crafts at Brazennose Street.
I love the Manchester markets as do a lot of traders so as you can imagine spaces fill up very quickly and subsequently they are full already, but there is always next Christmas! The market runs from 9th November to the 22nd December.
#6 Gloucester Quays Victorian Market
Gloucester Quay’s award-winning Victorian Christmas Market will be back again for an extended period this year, running for 11 days and seeing over a quarter of a million people. This is the biggest free to enter Victorian market in the South West.
We will be here this year from the 15th November to the 25th November.
#7 Oxford Christmas Market
Oxford’s historic Broad street will once again be the setting for the Christmas market with over 60 chalets, its set to be a magical market in the city of dreaming spires.
We will be here this year, so a review will come soon. The market will run this year from the 7th December until the 22nd December
#8 Winchester Cathedral
Winchester Christmas market is another renowned market in the south of England, with over 100 wooden chalets in the Cathedral Close. A friend of mine who sells chilli sauce swears by this market and has seen year in and year out success
This event is organised by Winchester Cathedral, and this year will be running from the 17th November until the 20th December.
#9 Glasgow Christmas Market
Glasgow Christmas Markets are being held at St Enoch Square and Georges Square this year. Market Place Europe have been awarded a 3-year contract starting this year so they are the guys you’ll need to contact for these markets.
The market will have 150 stalls over two locations with foot fall expecting to be over one million people. This year the markets will be running from the 9th November until the 23rd December.
