Vive La Crêpe – The Story So Far

Vive La Crêpe – The Story So Far

From humble beginnings…

Vive La Crepe food events

2017 has been an exciting year for Vive La Crêpe, and it isn’t over yet.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas and we have so many festive surprises in store. Its kicking off early this year at the Christmas Eat & Drink festival in Manchester this weekend.

We will barely have time to put our feet up before we get to work making Christmas wishes come true at Leicester’s Christmas Market. Whether it’s a delicious crêpe to warm up cold Christmas shoppers, or treating the family to a Georgie Porgie pudding – an awesome company we are hyped to be teaming up with. We’ll be in Leicester from the 23rd November until the 23rd December before we have to get home and put our stockings out for the big man himself!

We thought we would make the most of the last bit of calm for a while, and look back to where it all began…

I’ve been working in catering and hospitality for over 18 years (I look good for my age) starting as a pot washer and becoming a hotel manager, while working my way across the UK and France.

The idea for Vive La Crêpe began the same way all the best ideas do – in a conversation between friends. The dream has always been crêpe and coffee shops.

Vive La Crêpe was born when I decided to test my crêpe flipping and spinning skills, and to find out if people were hungry for it. Lucky for us, they are.

Crepes Street food event

I want to talk about my first gig at a street food market in Horsham, West Sussex. 2 days every week – come rain or shine – we served our full range of sweet, savoury and breakfast crêpes. Horsham will always have a special place in my heart. This awesome market only accepts traders who use local produce: produce from within 40 miles of the market, to be exact. It was hard work but seriously fun.

This part of Sussex has an amazing foodie following who really know their stuff. The traders I worked alongside had the same philosophy as Vive La Crêpe: a commitment to truly great food, the finest ingredients and happy customers. They’re still good friends of ours, and we love seeing all the amazing and well-deserved praise that’s come their way.

Traders like The Pig and Jacket who have been grand finalists in the Sussex Food and Drink awards 2 years in a row, or Obanzai who make unbelievable pan-asian food. Thinking about soul street kitchen’s pulled pork and GingerRookes’ corn fritters still makes my mouth water!

For Vive La Crêpe, this is what it’s all about – friendship, positivity and truly great food. Keep posted for more, as we look back on all the good times and look forward to even bigger and more exciting things ahead.
